Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 October 2026
BooksBridge is Klarby's Shopify app. It copies your store's orders, with the Shopify Payments fee on each payment, into your Klarby account, so your bookkeeping stays up to date. This policy explains what BooksBridge reads, where that data goes, what BooksBridge itself keeps, and what happens when you uninstall it.
1. Who we are
BooksBridge is operated by Shivarev Enterprises Limited, a private limited company registered in Cyprus, which also operates Klarby. For any privacy question or request, contact eduard@shivareventerprises.com.
2. What BooksBridge reads from your store
When you install BooksBridge, you grant it two Shopify permissions, and it reads nothing else:
-
Orders (
read_orders): order numbers and dates, amounts, currency, taxes, line items, refunds and payment details, including the processing fee Shopify Payments charged on each payment. This includes the customer details inside each order: the name, company and address on the order's billing and shipping addresses, and the customer's VAT number if the order records one. BooksBridge does not request your customers' email addresses. -
Older orders (
read_all_orders): the same order data for orders placed more than 60 days ago, so your books can cover earlier periods.
BooksBridge does not read your Shopify Payments payouts or balance.
3. Where the data goes
BooksBridge sends this data only to your Klarby account, the one you connect in the app. It does not send your data to any other accounting system or to anyone else.
Once orders reach Klarby, they become part of your accounting records there: Klarby keeps the customer's name, company, address, country and VAT number to issue invoices and report VAT. From then on, Klarby's privacy policy applies to them.
4. What BooksBridge itself stores, and where
BooksBridge stores the following on a persistent disk at our hosting provider, Render, in its Frankfurt, Germany region:
- Access credentials: the access token Shopify issues for your store, and the token Klarby issues for your Klarby connection. Both are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
- Your settings: which Klarby account you connected, and your sync preferences.
- Sync progress: how far the last sync got, so the next one continues from there.
- Import history: for each order sync attempt, the order number, amount, currency, outcome, time, and any error message, so you can see what was sent. The most recent 1,000 entries per store are kept.
BooksBridge does not store your customers' names, addresses or VAT numbers, or the contents of your orders. It holds order data in memory only while a sync runs, and passes it on to Klarby. Our application logs record store domains and counts, never customer details, and are kept for 7 days.
5. Uninstalling BooksBridge
- When you uninstall BooksBridge, Shopify notifies it. BooksBridge then immediately deletes everything in section 4 for your store: its access credentials, your Klarby connection, your settings, your sync progress and your import history.
- If that notification fails to arrive, BooksBridge still finds out. It checks every installed store with Shopify every 6 hours, and deletes the same data once Shopify has refused its access on two checks at least an hour apart: normally within 12 hours of uninstalling. If Shopify cannot be reached during a check, the next check tries again.
- Disconnecting Klarby inside the app deletes that connection and its credentials straight away.
- Uninstalling BooksBridge does not delete orders already copied into your Klarby account; those are your accounting records. To delete them, close your Klarby account, as described in Klarby's privacy policy.
6. Privacy requests from your customers
Shopify forwards your customers' privacy requests through its compliance webhooks: a request to see their
data (customers/data_request), a request to be erased (customers/redact), and the
erasure of your store's data after you uninstall (shop/redact). For BooksBridge these go to
Klarby, because that is where the orders BooksBridge synced are kept.
For orders synced to Klarby, Klarby carries these requests out, as described in Klarby's privacy policy. That page explains what Klarby returns for a data request and what it removes for an erasure request. BooksBridge itself holds no customer names, addresses or VAT numbers, so there is nothing for it to return or erase.
7. Your role and ours
For the customer data in your orders, you (the merchant) are the controller, and Shivarev Enterprises Limited processes that data on your instructions, as your processor, to provide BooksBridge and Klarby. We process it under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. If one of your customers contacts us directly, we will help you answer them.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
8. Processors
BooksBridge uses one processor:
- Render Services, Inc. (United States): application hosting. BooksBridge's data is stored in Render's Frankfurt, Germany region. Transfers outside the EU rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses if it ceases to apply.
Shopify is where the data comes from, and Klarby is where it goes on your instruction; neither is a processor of BooksBridge. Klarby's own processors are listed in Klarby's privacy policy.
9. Changes to this policy
When BooksBridge's data handling changes, we update this page and its "Last updated" date before the change takes effect.
